England international Sam Hutsby signs for Derby Futsal Club.
This is the second major signing for Derby Futsal Club Men’s team, with Joe Illston re-joining the East Midlands side earlier this summer.
The 25 year old Hutsby, started his futsal career at Northumbria University where he caught the eye of the England national team. He was last at Durham Futsal Club before spending the year travelling in Australia, but is now ready to fight for a place at the FA National Futsal Series club:
“[Derby] is a growing club with strong foundations and after returning to my hometown after 8 years I wanted to represent the city I was born and grew up in. I want to see the club compete at the highest level.”
Derby Futsal General Manager, Matt Hardy, is very happy with new signing:
“We are delighted to add a pivot option with his pedigree to the squad. He will be the first to admit that he has got a bit of work to do to be physically ready. He is one hell of a talent and the sort of match winning option that every club would love to have in their squad.”
In 2017 Hutsby was called up to play in the Four Nations Tournament for the three lions where he had high praise from his coach at the time, Michael Gunn: “His strengths are he is very physical and scores lots of goals with his great left foot. His progress in the last six months has been very impressive, he is a great character on and off the pitch.”
With the commencement of NFS very much still in the planning stage it will give time for the likes of Hutsby to get back to full fitness. Hutsby and Illston add to an already strong squad following a prolific January transfer window.
