Derby look forward to final group stage match against Worcester

All eyes will be on the court as Derby Futsal Men’s face Worcester Futsal Club in their final group-stage match.

The teams are set to go head-to-head at 5:00pm on 13 June 2021 at the University of Wolverhampton, which will conclude Derby’s National Futsal Series campaign.

Derby were drawn into Group A, along with Worcester, Bolton and ProFutsal London. After last week’s set of matches, the tie between ProFutsal London and Bolton will decide who comes out on top of Group A. A win for either side will see them face the winners of Group B, where the NFS Summer Showdown title is up for grabs.

Established in 2016, Worcester Futsal Club have been competing within the FA National League and FA Futsal Cup for the past years. The club will look to expand on their past performances with a win against Derby. The club have talent within their ranks, with debutant James Sunley scoring in their previous match against Bolton.

Derby head into the match on the back of a tough defeat to ProFutsal London. The club have stepped up to this level for the first time, proving that they can compete at the highest level. From both previous matches there have been positives to take, and Derby will only look to mount more success onto this.

Last weeks goal scorer, Gareth Keeling said: “It felt really good to get on the score sheet to be honest. I’m not usually one for contributing on the goal tally. Despite losing nine-one I think we can use the whole second half as momentum for tomorrow, we had a great team talk at half time against Pro Futsal London and I believe we executed that half well, so hopefully carry that into tomorrow.”

Keeling also elaborated on the positives that can be taken from the series.

“We just lost out to Bolton in a great game that could of gone either way, and held off Pro Futsal London in times during the game where the score line didn’t do our performance justice. These are tier one teams that we’re able to compete with and I honestly believe we have a great chance to end the tournament with a win and we should be able to walk away proud.”

The sides have demonstrated their quality in previous performances, indicating that this will be a high-level, exciting match.
