“I’m hoping to keep my form going” Derby vs York Match Preview

By Paddy Finnemore

Derby takes on York on Sunday on a big encounter where a win for the Rams could set them in a great position for the rest of the season.

Alec Barnden the youngest player in the Derby squad is in a rich vein of form, scoring his first goal for the club and performing well in the strong 9-0 victory over Liverpool.

Barnden is very happy with his first goal and is hoping to keep it going, “yeah I’m hoping to keep it going because I missed a few chances in the Liverpool game so I am hoping to take all the chances I get.”

With York being third in the league and performing well, it is going to be a strong test for this Derby side. Barnden is looking for some changes from the game against Liverpool. “We are hoping to be a bit more compact than the last game, stay tight and don’t let the balls through the middle, and overall play much faster.”

Knowing what they must do to win the match, the youngster also knows some of York’s strong points. “We know York are a good team, they are going to be contending for the league, we have got to stay tight and watch out for their pivot.”

With first playing third this is a huge game for both sides in their respective seasons. We will find out who comes out on top when the first whistle goes at 3 pm on Sunday at the University of Derby.
