Derby Futsal will be looking to secure back-to-back victories this weekend as they face Trent Valley in the National Futsal Series.
Last weekend, Derby ran out a nervy 5-4 winners against a spirited Leicester who came back from 4-0 down to test Derby’s resilience.
The last time these two faced each other, Derby won by a comprehensive 22-1 margin. However, since then results haven’t been consistent. Derby needs York to drop points in the remaining two games to get back into the promotion hunt.
Trent Valley has endured a difficult season. With only one point from their 12 games, they will be desperate to get revenge on The Rams and earn their first victory.
Immanuel Freeman has been a seasoned player at Derby futsal, been through many highs and lows. This season he has been a main figure in the side, appearing in nine games and getting two-goal contributions. He knows how vital the win against Leicester was, “In our previous games, our performances have not been as good as what we know we can perform as, so we did not get the results we wanted. So, the win was massive for us.”
To keep that run going Freeman and his side know what they have to do, “as we approach this game we need to apply ourselves with the right mindset, work hard for each other and be clinical. If we do that, I am sure we can win.”
With the last game against Sunday’s opposition going so well, the Derby number seven is full of praise for the young side. “Trent is a young new team. They have some decent quality throughout the team. They have nothing to lose so they will be a tough test in what will be an entertaining game.
With Derby having to win to put the pressure on York, Sunday’s game is crucial that they remain professional and get the job done. You can come and support The Rams on Sunday at the University of Derby, kick-off at 2:30 pm.
